Another Computer Summer
This is my first blog. I'm not sure why I would use a blog. I think it shares more information about me on the Internet than is necessary. Why would it be an interest to someone else unless it was family or friends? My son has a video blog and he uses it to let his family and friends know what he is doing in his theater life. It helps keep track of what he is doing and where he is going. Is that why I would continue with a blog? I really don't think I have anyone who would want to follow a blog. I will consider using a blog in my teaching but I need to figure out why? I am open to suggestions.

A blog is a great tool for educators. A lot of people misidentify blogs as journals, but it is just a communication tool. You can do a class newsletter for parents, you can post assignments. You can post thought questions and have students respond to them.

Gail, I'm glad you asked that question because I was wondering how you would use a blog in an educational setting too. Barb, your comment helped clear up my misconception because I'm one of the people who equate blogs with personal journals!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with K.A. I too was wondering how I would use a blog and I also thought it was for a journal. Thanks Barb.
ReplyDeleteBlogging almost reminds me of what we did about ten years ago through BPS...for the life of me I can't remember what it was called. There were just a few of us at the elementary level getting trained with Alice W. and Judy M. I used it with my 4th graders that year in the computer lab. The following year, there wasn't any money to continue the training.
ReplyDeleteI finally remembered the training that I had had: VES Virtual Education Space Did any of you have that training through Beverly Public Schools?
